April 2026 Review: Process Over Outcome

April is done. Here is the breakdown.

Total trades: 847. Win rate: 52.3%. Net result: positive. The account grew, but not dramatically. Some weeks were flat. One week was notably negative. The overall trajectory stayed upward.

Best week was the third week of April. Gold had strong directional moves during London and New York sessions. The system caught multiple 50+ pip runs with clean entries. When gold trends intraday, my approach works best. That week accounted for most of the month's gain.

Worst week was the first week. Multiple false breakouts on gold during thin Asian session liquidity. The system entered positions that looked valid on the chart but got stopped out repeatedly before the real move happened. I reviewed the data and considered adding a session filter to avoid Asian session entries. Decided against it for now because some of my best historical trades came from that session. The variance is acceptable.

What I changed. Nothing fundamental. I adjusted one parameter in the system's exit logic to close faster when momentum stalls. This was based on three months of data showing that trades that do not move in my favour within 30 minutes have a significantly lower probability of hitting target. The adjustment is small but should reduce the number of trades that go from small winner to small loser by sitting too long.

What I did not change. Risk per trade stays at 2%. Daily loss limit stays at 4%. Instruments stay the same, primarily gold with occasional USTEC. The temptation to increase risk after a good week is always there. I did not act on it.

Lessons from the month. Patience during the first week's drawdown paid off. In earlier years I would have panicked and changed the strategy mid month. Now I know that one bad week within a positive month is completely normal. The process does not need to change because of seven days of noise.

Looking ahead to May. No changes planned. Continue executing. Continue tracking. Continue reviewing monthly. The compounding takes care of itself when the process is consistent.
